What to Expect

  • Duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors. Work may be performed in a variety of weather conditions including severe cold, wind, and limited visibility.
  • Must be willing and able to consistently lift and move items, parts, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.
  • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
  • Must successfully complete the physical, dental and psychological (if applicable) examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica.
  • Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning up around the station), recycling efforts and safety objectives.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Attend weekly work center safety meetings as requested by your Supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with the customers and department management.
  • Smoking is not allowed inside any Waste Management structure.
  • Alcohol-related violations will result in HR action, the most severe being termination of employment.
  • Due to the closed nature of the work site, personal activities after-hours are still subject to company policy; behavioral infractions will be handled accordingly.
